Airborne survey for detection of Hudson Pear

In October SkyScan and Airborne Research Australia (ARA) completed a 200,000 ha (2,000 sq km) aerial imaging survey near Lightning Ridge, NSW, using the new HR1 camera system, for our industry partner InFarm as part of a project to detect and locate Hudson Pear which is an invasive weed species.

The project was conducted for the Biosecurity Department of Regional NSW Government. The data consisting of over 120,000 images is now being analysed by InFarm using advanced artificial intelligence (AI) machine learning processes so that scientists may identify the spread of this invasive species and develop an eradication plan.
